Allstar Sound adds another Avid S6L to inventory

Allstar Sound just added another Avid S6L to it’s inventory of rental equipment. we also updated out stage racks and now each rack has  64 inputs with 24 or 32 outputs. Now with all the Avid software updates this console has become a very powerful tool in the live mixing world.

The VENUE 5.3 software update for S6L brings significant new capabilities to our flagship system, including:

128 tracks of Pro Tools recording and playback over Ethernet AVB
Multiple user-definable fader layouts
Select follows Solo
Matrix Spill
Toggle EQ gain & frequency in Vertical Channel Strip Mode

Pro Tools 128 track recording/playback

With VENUE 5.3 the channel capacity over Ethernet AVB between S6L and Pro Tools increases to 128 channels (from 64 channels)—that’s 128 channels of simultaneous record and playback via an Ethernet AVB connection over a single CAT5e cable. Simply plug a supported Mac Pro with Pro Tools (and Live Sound Production Toolkit) into the Ethernet Pro Tools port on the back of the S6L control surface to enjoy 128 channels of recording and playback, including per-channel Virtual Soundcheck. Note that you will need to have two AVB-192 Ethernet AVB Option Cards installed in the E6L engine to support the increased bandwidth required on the network for 128 channels. Everything is pretty much plug and play. All of the VENUE patchbay functionality, the global virtual sound check functionality, the per-channel virtual sound check, the gain propagation workflows, transport control from S6L—all of that stuff that you got with 64 channels you’ve now got with 128. And this of course is really important because the I/O capacity of S6L is significant. This increased recording capacity covers all but the most demanding channel counts.

JBL VTX M Stage Monitors New

VTX M Series is comprised of the dual 10” VTX M20 and the dual 12” VTX M22 professional stage monitors, both featuring high performance differential drive woofers and the large-format D2 dual-diaphragm dual voice-coil high frequency driver. The option of Single-Channel (Passive) or Dual-Channel (Bi-Amp) operation modes comes standard, allowing the user to choose the right option for the application, with no compromise in output power or performance. Drawing on JBL’s unique history of sharing technological innovations across product lines, the VTX M Series HF waveguide features Image Control Waveguide Technology, which gives both the VTX M20 and VTX M22 a broad and stable 60H x 60V coverage that delivers maximum gain-before-feedback. All of these premium, tour-ready features are enclosed in a pair of modern, low profile designs that are lightweight, ergonomic, and show-ready for even the most high profile concert or broadcast events. And because VTX M Series is part of the VTX family, it comes fully supported in JBL HiQNet Performance Manager with V5 presets.

As a member of the Harman group, we draw from the expertise and integration of the entire range of Harman Pro audio technologies. So, in addition to the best sound possible, setup, tuning, networking and controlling the VTX Series is efficient, intelligent and truly a system solution.

Avid S6L at work

Allstar Sound debuted the new Avid  S6L console on several corporate events which included several meetings, presentations and entertainment. We were amazed with the changes to the Mic Pre’s and going from a 48k format to a 96k format how the S6L out performed it’s predecessors. The ease we had setting up the console and then getting around the console, having 32 faders at your finger tips and  the 3  touch screens displays you can see everything going on with the input and output channels and make changes without going through several different levels. The new layout feature helped with complex inputs that a corporate event can throw at you. In addition you still had a outboard touch screen with the same format has past Avid consoles which brought the stress of using a new console for the first time to a unbelievable comfort level.

Since the entertainment requested different consoles or brought there own consoles the engineers were very amazed at the work Avid had put into S6L console. if they had seen the console prior to this event, they would have enjoyed using it. We have several request for the console one being 4 shows with over 110 inputs per show. we feel confident that the S6L will preform beyond our expectations.
